Heel pain is most often caused by plantar fasciitis, a condition that is sometimes also associated with heel spurs. Heel pain may also be due to other causes, such as a stress fracture, tendonitis, arthritis or nerve irritation.

In many cases, a podiatrist may prescribe physical therapy to strengthen the muscles and tendons in your foot. A podiatrist may also recommend to support the foot either by taping the or by using special footwear devices, like orthotics, insoles or heel pads.
