Ingrown Toenail Pain

An ingrown toenail, when the side edge of your nail grows into the skin, can irritate causing pain, redness and swelling. The condition is very common in all ages and affects the big toe more than others.

To prevent infections, you should treat ingrown toenails as soon as they are discovered. Mild cases can be treated with home remedies, such as cleaning and soaking, changing ill-fitting footwear and socks; or applying a toe protector to cushion the ingrown toenails. Serious cases should consult a podiatrists and may require surgery.
